Add value to your home with a new Bathroom

Bathrooms were known for a long time as a place where you would just wash and go. Nowadays, it couldn’t be further from the truth, the modern day bathroom almost rivals luxury spas and hotel bathrooms. It’s a place to go to destress from the busy lives we lead.

Why is it so important to refurbish your Bathroom
Apart from the obvious of having a new bathroom to relax in, they can be a quick fix to boost your property value, if you are looking to sell. The average bathroom costs around £5,000, but according to recent research from Victoria Plum they can add a whopping £25,000 to your property value. Your top priority should be to create a room that’s calming and clean. If your bathroom has cold tiles and clinical feel, you’ll never want to spend any time in it and it will make the those cold, dark mornings even harder to get out of bed.

Depending on the size of your home, the preferred amount of bathrooms can vary. For the average four bedroom home in the UK, its good practice to have two bathrooms. With one main bathroom and an en-suite. Children and the elderly will choose a bath over a shower, so ensuring your home has a bath fitted is a good selling feature for the future.

What sells?
With so many different styles on the market, it’s impossible to please everyone. If you are purely updating your bathroom for resale purposes a clean, homely feel is best. Large tiles make a bathroom appear bigger than it is and if you are looking for an easy way to keep any damp at bay, tiling up to the ceiling is a great way to achieve this. For a higher-end bathroom, you could opt for a wet room - a walk-in bathroom that is entirely waterproof, so there is no worry about the children soaking the bathroom. A more popular choice is the traditional bath and shower option, as people tend to expect at least one bath in a home these days.

Add finishing touches
When selling your home, the first impression a viewer has is crucial. Don’t skimp on the finishing touches. New towels and accessories can add a new character to a bland bathroom – and they don’t have to be expensive. In fact, keeping it affordable means that you can change it up to match seasonal trends.
